About Access To Art and Myself

Access to Art opened in the summer of 2011, at our studio in Market Harborough.  I offer professional art classes for adults with disabilities.

Access to Art assists people to promote their work and themselves as professional artists in the wider community, helping them to forge links locally to enable them to exhibit and sell their work.

Why not come along and:

  • Meet new friends,
  • learn new skills,
  • gain confidence both socially and professionally in their work,
  • develop working relationships with local companies and private clients,
  • exhibit alongside other professional artists at open exhibitions throughout the year.

Within the public and private sector I have always ran meaningful art sessions where the client is not just producing art for simply stimulation. Clients I have supported in the past have sold work in catalogues, shops, exhibited locally, exhibited alongside other professional artists and worked on individual commissions.

The personalisation side of Access to Art  shows through the detailed and creative person centred plans (PCP) that clients will create with support. These can be three dimensional and will allow clients to demonstrate their wide artistic skill base to show a rounded view of their lives.

Well being and independence is maintained through forming friendships with other clients during sessions, sharing ideas and gaining new skills from each other.

Access to Art is a client lead service. Experimenting and a “try it and see” approach is always promoted alongside the ethos that “it’s your work, your design and you make the choices”.

Access to art will provide a personalised service tailor made to suit each clients own aims and objectives they wish to achieve.

The art sessions are open to everyone inclusive of all disabilities.

I have been running art based sessions for adults with special needs for approximately eighteen years in various settings both private and public sector.

I have a recognised adult teaching qualification as well as having a BA (hons) degree in Fashion and Textiles.
